For this school assignment, I created a short film that delves into the bittersweet theme of reminiscing about home while feeling a sense of not belonging. The film was crafted to evoke nostalgia and warmth, using the vibrant greenery and warm tones of fall to transport viewers into the story's emotional world. I took on multiple roles for this project, including scriptwriting, filming, editing, directing, art direction, location scouting, sound design, and color correction. Collaborating with a talented actor brought the story to life, and with the help of a co-editor, I polished the pacing and flow. Adobe Premiere Pro was my primary tool, allowing me to bring the concept to life within the challenging three-minute runtime. I began with a storyboard to visualize the narrative and establish a cohesive tone. Fall greenery and warm hues were central to the aesthetic, creating a welcoming yet introspective mood. The pacing was a critical element, requiring thoughtful editing and multiple iterations to deliver a compelling story within the short timeframe. One unexpected challenge arose when a microphone broke during filming, but thankfully, the recorded audio remained unaffected. Balancing the runtime and storytelling was another hurdle, which I overcame by carefully refining the edit through several versions to ensure the film flowed seamlessly. The final film achieved its goal of creating a nostalgic, heartfelt experience for viewers. It successfully captured the feeling of warmth and introspection, blending cohesive visuals and sound to convey the story’s emotional depth. This project not only strengthened my skills in Adobe Premiere Pro but also deepened my understanding of the value of pre-production planning. The experience has inspired me to dedicate even more attention to preparation in future projects, building on the success of this film to create even more impactful work.
